Study on High Performance IPv4/IPv6 Transition and Access Service

چکیده
Transition to IPv6 has been recognized as the trend of future Internet. Since a huge amount of resources have been invested on current IPv4-based Internet, how to smoothly transit the Internet from IPv4 to IPv6 is a very important research topic. This paper surveys the state of the art in IPv6 transition, summarizes and compares different IPv6 transition mechanisms and scenarios, discusses the security issues in IPv6 transition, and presents the possible directions for future research.

An IPv4/IPv6 Traversal Scheme with Seamless Mobility Support over Heterogeneous Wireless Networks
This paper proposes a new IPv4/IPv6 traversal scheme based on a scalable network-based IP mobility management system, called Access Independent Mobile Service (AIMS), which can provide MNs with high-quality mobility services over various wireless access networks. The proposed AIMS with IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack Support (AIMS-DS) scheme can support an MN moving continuously across the IPv4/IPv6 coexi...
متن کاملProviding Reliable IPv6 Access Service Based on Overlay Network
During the transition from IPv4 to IPv6, it is necessary to provide IPv6 access service for IPv6 islands inside the native IPv4 network to access the native IPv6 network. The existing IPv4/IPv6 transition methods make IPv6relay gateways maintained by IPv6 service providers become potential communication bottlenecks. In this paper, a new method PS6 is presented to reduce the reliance on these re...
متن کاملAn Incremental Carrier-Grade NAT (CGN) for IPv6 Transition
Global IPv6 deployment was slower than originally expected. As IPv4 address exhaustion approaches, IPv4 to IPv6 transition issues become more critical and less tractable. Host-based transition mechanisms used in dual-stack environments cannot meet all transition requirements. Most end users are not sufficiently expert to configure or maintain host-based transition mechanisms. CarrierGrade NAT (...

متن کاملIPv4/IPv6 Transition Mechanisms
Currently, the Internet consists of native IPv4 (IPv4-only), native IPv6, and IPv4/IPv6 dual networks. Unfortunately, IPv4 and IPv6 are incompatible protocols. When both IP versions are available and the users of Internet want to connect without any restrictions, a transition mechanism is required. During the time of migration from IPv4 to IPv6 networks, a number of transition mechanisms have b...
